An ode to Paul Simon

June 29, 2016

A couple of months back I was driving down the M1 on my way home from Glasgow with the Graceland album blarring out. It had been a while. Tune after Tune after Tune.

I got home in the wee hours and could not get this one out of my head, I'd always liked it but something about that night made me really listen to the lyrics for the first time, there's so much packed in there and it's breathtakingly beautiful.

Can I sing like Paul Simon? No
Can we do all those African Beats? No

There's a thing about doing cover songs where it's dangerous to take something on that was nailed first time round. whoops! This was never going to top the original but it's Paul Simon, of course it's not going to be topped, it's still a great song, and we still found a way of stamping The Amber Bugs Vibe on it. Have a listen, let us know what you think.
